At the end of the day, a single person is just that, a person. No fucking political leader/priest/prophet can change the mind of a nation deeply enough to make a piece of shit place good to live in again. Even if you stuff a place like that full of money, the mental health problems will fuck it up in no time. Imagine a greedy, aggressive society in which you pour an amount of money equal to 5% of the GDP yearly, but only for 4/8 years. What do you think will happen? The most greedy, sociopathic ones will find ways to get as much of the cash as they can, and grow like fucking cancer. Nothing helps on places like that, stop your demagogue, naive, perhaps even malicious attempt at manipulating people into feeling too compassionate with your cause,which they will later obviously regret.
