I want them to build affordable apartments in an attractive large town/small city within a reasonable distance from/within a big city. Laminate countertops, a Home Depot bathroom, off-brand appliances, but near all the shit I want to be near.

I don't understand why this is so hard. I don't understand why they have to jack up the value of residences on top of the location premium. I don't understand why they build low rises with big-ass floorplans instead of mid-rises with a healthy 500-1000sqft.

America is basically engineered to create a wealth gap and a rural/urban gap.
