Why do we not spend more time considering other careers then just Software?

I work in a small office of a large company in a smaller sized city (city population ~150k). Our small office only has 8 employees, and because its in a backwater location relative to the size of the company (most our big offices are in the major cities with 500+ employees each), I don't have to deal with any of the bullshit associated with large, corporate, office structures. All 8 of us, including the one manager, just bullshit half the day away, and spent about the other half only kinda working. We get all our work done and do it in a timely and quality manner, but we don't play the "pretend you are working" game for 8 hours a day. We order pizzas, watch youtube videos, watch movies or shows occasionally, and generally spent half the day just shooting the shit talking and wasting time. This is after we have completed our work responsibilities. I have plenty of liberty and free time to fully browse /biz/ to get rich quick and browse other websites while at work, or watch youtube videos and its nice.

Our office is half empty too, the reason it even exists was for another team at our company who used to do important work in the region for big time clients. Long story short, half the members on that team left for other companies about 4 years ago, and the other half were subsequently transferred to larger offices. That team used to have 12 people on it, so now an office designed for 25 people has 8, and its really nice having the extra space. We have no local IT, just one manager, no local HR, no corporate nonsense, and an almost nonexistent dress code.

Before the 2017 bullrun I had a small side gig knocking over structures like this, although not as large. I could often scrape 0.1BTC or so with an hour or so of work.
Anymore now it's pretty tough to make a living at...although it can be done. My theory is a lot of VC firms have hired Indians or Fiver type gigs to go find these structures.
Usually the large ones still standing are there for a reason so exercise extreme caution.
