The elephant coins aren't obscure by any stretch. They've been around since the 90's, which is longer than noah's arks. Back then they were issued by Zambia, instead of Somalia (the change happened in 2004), but it's the same series. I'd like to get some of the older ones, one day. They look pretty cool!
As far as liquidity, it's not like you have to buy a whole monster box of elephants. Just a tube is enough. Get them while they're cheap! You'll have many opportunities to buy the boring wieners that are always the same fucking thing every single year. Those have no collectible value whatsoever, unlike the elephants.
