Are you pretending to be retarded? Electricity and more importantly humanity's ability to operate during the night full-time is a very recent thing in our history. Even without criminals and malicious actors you always were at risk of being attacked by feral animals at night, getting into accidents or lost because you couldn't see. This was common sense for the majority of humanity's time on earth and it's not a few centuries of western opulence that will suddenly make people change their behavior regarding nocturnal life. Even today roasties have to be cautious after certain hours if alone because of this.
