Pic related. Dividends are a virtue signal for how healthy a company is. It's like saying "look at me, my finances are good enough to pay shareholders, I'm really confident in where I'm going." Companies that don't pay dividends have something else going on like internal spending for rapid growth, or stagnation.

If you are making your money off of dividends you are either really rich, or you have a trust fund, maybe you're zoomer, or a boomer that has to wear diapers.
