the stock market can do whatever it wants but this is why fundamentals are so important to pair with it. like i mentioned the BABA example with xi jinping fucking their shit up and jack ma going missing etc. i didn't even buy the presidential dip on AMD because i was worried about a crash from a civil war or something happening, but my brother bought and made out like a bandit (to be fair there was no problem with the company it was a market-wise dump due to the election). you have to know WHY it dropped, if there's no good reason and the company is still solid then you buy. DCA'ing is useful because it's not always exact, but sometimes it does bounce pretty perfectly so it depends on your risk tolerance. 10x (one order of magnitude) works surprisingly well in a lot of cases.

same thing going the other way, btw. like fedex and amazon went crazy during the covid situation, again a fundamental reason. TSLA/AAPL had the forward split and also the FAGMAANN stocks in general were affected by the manipulation from SoftBank, which made them moon. these are some recent FA examples of "why did price go beyond the channel and keep going?" if you want to look into them more deeply.

in general it's just a good reference point. i like the hourly because i like to swing trade over days to weeks. you can do it on the daily time frame too but then you're dealing with weeks to months, and some stocks that are great will never get there for a long long time. depends how you want to trade and what your time horizon looks like. multi-year lows are generally considered good places to buy btw, support/resistance is also nice if you understand how to determine how strong different levels are.

at the end of the day you just have to take the chance some times. the main key is to be early, but to be early you have to say "fuck it" at some point and pull the trigger, knowing that you could potentially be wrong. but by getting in early your downside risk is much lower than your upside potential as long as you're patient.

GME was mocked relentlessly when it dumped to $6 after the ER last year. it wasn't easy to dump your whole life savings into it then, no one could foresee this happening like it is now. but the DD was good and i knew the consoles were coming out, they weren't going bankrupt any time soon because their debt situation was great, and ryan cohen got involved.

that said, i bought at $7 and sold when some anon's FUD'd about it "crashing" from 9 to 8-ish, and then bought back at $10 and held for literally months. it went up to $15 on the MSFT news and i sold half to protect myself, 50% is a good gain i thought, and i only owned 100 shares at the time. then i watched it go to 20 and dump and 20 and dump like 4 times and i just held and felt shitty. eventually i sold at 20 and then the ryan cohen board member shakeup happened and it skyrocketed to 40 and i thought "oh well i missed out".

i bought back in at 70 on the dump from 160 and got stopped out at 84 when it barely broke the low of day after. i bought back in at 90 when it started going up above VWAP and just held it. i sold at 440 when i heard the RH delisting news.

I'm just saying: it's not easy. Hope my story imparts some wisdom on the matter. people like deepfuckingvalue are fucking insane btw.
