Pretty weird how cheap houses are in the us. If I want to buy a house in my hometown near a medium sized metropol. I will pay like 800k € for a single family home. I have to give the bank around 200k to get good interest and still pay the mortgage for the next 35 years. I could buy land and build a 3 family house, but the land alone costs around 500k. I make around 60k a year after tax. Thanks and good bye.

I wish I was American so fucking bad and have considering doing the USMLEs and moving there but am aware aa surgical career would be unrealistic due to the competitiveness as a foreign grad. If you were born in that country please appreciate what you have while the rest of us suffer. And no, there is no other country I could move to which provides a lifestyle to the USA, if you're a skilled worker it's simply unmatched both in quality of life and how damn difficult it is to move there.

At my age Mark Zuckerberg was a billionaire and I can barely even retire and that will be in a developig nation. If I leave the communist state of Britain for a country where pay is based on merit (the USA) I won't be competitive for the surgical specialties I'm interested in, and if I stay I will earn very little and be taxed very highly.
