$1000EOY was always a meme anon. I don't know this firsthand, but from what I've heard, what o.g.s really got was this:

Those who were patient and waited through stage-by-the-bathroom, mainnet, and covid to sell the end of defi summer had a huge warchest to go into winter 2020-may 2021 with

2. True believers. Top brass from 2017-18 (or even 2019 who came on with assblaster and bought before the mainnet / coinbase listing pump) Bought 10k, 20k, 50k stacks for like $3k, $4k, $12k. They have generational wealth and, if they bothered to tune in, laughed loudest of all at the trashcan troll at the start of Sergey's keynote. They know it's just a matter of waiting and have moved on to other things, whether trading, building in web3, or just neeting until neet nodes are live in a few years and not even bothering to work to be first in the pool.
