>how would one theoretically sell their own silver bars?

I buy sterling scrap for refining and get ingots returned from Prospector's Gold and Gems in Ft. Collins, CO, their bullion sells well with good premiums in the secondary/eBay market.

Go hunting for Scrap, I get most from eBay and still ain't paying over $20/Ozt total for the returned bullion, competition is pretty fierce right now but I still find deals whenever I look.

I drop off scrap and pick up bars in person, but I'm pretty sure it's normally done via FedEx.

I send the crap sterling to a refinery and get hand-pours returned. The nice stuff is saved because I love both silver and antiques, so fine antique Silver makes me hnnnng.

Here's my refinery: https://prospectorsgoldandgems.com/silver-refining/

>Lots of maximalists in other /biz/ threads right now insulting people who want to get into PMs

Many if not most of us at least HODL some crypto, but we generally see PMs as the far safer and superior way to preserve wealth and ensure economic access through the uncertainties of the future. Cryptos see parabolic gains but also parabolic crashes and are a completely different game than PMs. We have been busy here getting awesome heavy seats at the table instead of chasing paper gains because when the music stops people will realize that precious, scarce, and useful physical wealth is way more secure than anything digital and as we're seeing right now, there isn't nearly enough physical to satisfy that demand when it's awakened. We've been patiently stacking and waiting for a moment like this, and now it's probably too late for people who haven't started yet. Sadly their future will be years of toilsome knobslobbing for Merc dimes.

>I mostly hold my bullion in case we have another stock market crash and the miners do something silly as in March 2020. I think that for such an event to reoccur is unlikely, which is why I'm mostly still in the miners at this time, but, if that did occur, I'd liquidate my bullion and buy the bottom.

I'm emotionally invested in my bullion which makes my bullishness biased, but it seems that you are just seeking the best trades with least downside relative to upside available anywhere given the macro tailwinds and selected silver miners as the objectively best vehicle for maximizing gains. That increases your credibility even more in my eyes. I've been enthralled by silver in any form since I was 5 and always preferred it over gold, following those instincts has worked well but I can't pretend to be impartial and objective about it so I appreciate your insight and guidance.

Those ASEs were 2020s so he's got sum 'splainin to do. Mostly just spouting the UD of FUD because he doesn't know what's going on behind the curtain and being butthurt about premiums that you don't really have to worry about if you buy scrap. Bet he'd be buying up gobs still if it cost him what I pay.

>I probably have more than any other private person in my country already.

Based. Glad other people have taken advantage of cheap scrap, the first batch I had processed this year cost less than $13/Ozt total. The highest purity scrap I got personally was some Japanese .970, though I've seen 99% Korean Silver which is pretty wild.

I have a small electric furnace and have poured/cast things for fun, but send the junk scrap in for refining and ingot return (I keep intact the good antique silver items that are more valuable as-is). Been shilling my approach to eBay sterling scrap silver stacking for a few months here in pmg, no other way to consistently stack sub-$20 silver while normies are paying $27-30.

Heck no, kilos of silver are based. 100oz bars are excessive but kilos are a perfect "store of wealth" size ingot and I also expect them to be useful when buying property or machinery.

>Anons is there any scrapper that you send in sterling silver just to receive full bars back physically?

That's what I do fren, stack kilos of quality antique sterling next to kilos of bullion returned from the refined lower quality and damaged old sterling. I'll buy bullion directly too but scrapping is so much cheaper.

I use Prospector's Gold and Gems in Fort Collins, CO. Call them up for details because their website is a bit ambiguous.

Wow that's beautiful, Comstock lode silver too? Yeah bars like that sell for ridiculous premiums on eBay so if you can get Homestake bars affordably that would be some smart stacking. Thanks for sharing I've always liked poured silver.

I get it refined and ingots returned at a total cost well below spot fren, it's actually a very strong play if you know what you're doing. I do hoard valuable antique silver pieces too good to melt though, another strong play as I'm very experienced dealing in antiques and can get top collector dollar for the good stuff I bought for half of melt value. Been trying to get anons to open their eyes to another stacking strategy, it's definitely the best and cheapest option for me.

>What's the acceptable price range for scrap in your opinion?

A price that would yield you returned refined bullion at a total cost no higher than spot at time of scrap purchase. Cheaper the better obviously, but currently (and through August highs) I've kept total average costs below 20/Ozt. I'll pay more than normal for some scrap (like high quality antique stuff too good to melt down that I just keep or easy scrap like a straightforward pile of silverware) and DCA with the awesome deals that also show up which keeps volume worthwhile at the expense of costs not being as impressively low as they could be if you only got the 10% best deals. Good rule of thumb is if it's around $0.50 per gram of sterling or lower I buy almost instantly. Weighted items, stainless bladed knives etc are potentially dangerous for noobs so be careful and good luck!

>do you just get sterling and refine it, or do you go for lower percentage silvers as well?

I'm in the USA and get 90+% of my scrap off eBay, trawling only the newest Buy it Now listings for fresh cheap scores no one else has seen yet. I focus on big heavy antiques and silverware, not fiddlyshit jewelry. Sterling is the most common and available fineness (also most competition) but I buy everything from .800 silver and up which all costs me the same to get refined and returned. Lower purity scrap costs much more to refine so oughta be avoided unless super cheap.

Like I've said, even now in September I'm still stacking $600 kilos all day doing this that I could flip for $1,000 if I wasn't focused on hoarding as much as possible. It's a legit scheme if you've got the mind for it and would be lucrative for bullion hustlers, best margins I've been able to come up with yet for a reliable silver source.

>Though ebay of course!

No other way to stack $600 kilos when everyone else is paying a grand. Aside from mining yourself somehow, scrapping is the only way to get consistent cheap silver and an instant fat ROI.
