Question about T+2. In a cash account, if you sell stock, is it possible for the sale to settle sooner than 2 days? I bought some stornks yesterday using settled cash, then sold them today. Yet the proceeds from my sale today are "Unsettled - Available" whereas I would expect them to be "Unsettled - Unavailable" because it's cash from the sale of unsettled stoinks.

Dipshit question here: I'm looking into upgrading my cash account to a margin account. My brokerage says "The minimum account equity requirement for a margin account is $2000."

What the fuck does equity mean in this context? Are they saying I must own $2000 worth of stonks at all times? Or that the net value of my account overall, including cash, must be $2000? Or something else?
