I'm talking about 6% total per year, which of course would depend on how many requests your stake is facilitating.
Say I stake 10000 link, is 600 link per year ($10000) so unreasonable if I am putting down $170k as collateral? I don't think so.
Of course the number of actual link paid to node operators will decrease as the price increases and vice versa, but if the overall yearly payout from staking is not at least 3-6% of your staked links value, no one would stake link because you would get better returns with boomer stocks.
My actual bet is that when staking is announced, independent node operator rewards (and companies facilitating staking) will be paid with an additional 4-6% from Sergey in order to get as many people/organisations as possible running independent nodes, to try and limit monopolies forming.
I also think it is likely that multiple companies like coinbase and binance will offer the ability to stake link on their platform, however it will only provide 3% gains as they will take a % for themselves and provide insurance on the staked link.
Even these sort of gains, at a price of $20 per link, would allow someone with 1000 link ($20000) to stake for 30 link per year ($600).
10000 link ($200,000) = 300 link ($6000)
100,000 link ($2,000,000) = 3000 link ($60,000)
