the token is completely worthless in the sense that there is 0 actual demand, it's no different from shiba or doge, the protocol/blockchain are also useless because no one in the real world uses blockchain for anything, all the people that have been telling you "blockchain, not bitcoin" for the last decade were all either idiots or scammers trying to sell you their shitcoin

holding btc is its use case
bitcoin wasn't invented so you can buy groceries in a fancy way, it was invented because of constant currency devaluation through thousands of years

In contrast, the use of an opaque asset introduces the risk of implementation flaws that may or may not be detectable because of the underlying mathematics of commitments and more complex proving systems.

Because BTC appreciates in value over longer periods of time but the massive volatility and price drops mean that make it hard to keep holding to large amounts of BTC. The people that have really made money are those that lost their keys and found it years later, etc. There is no decentralized way to stake BTC for interest if that is what you mean, all DEFI platforms are trusting some central authority and most of these are fly by night. No other crypto has been around long enough to show greater appreciation than BTC over long terms. Even of those that survived, XRP is only up from $0.05 to $0.17 about 3 times in 7 years and LTC is actually down $50 to $40 in 7 years...everything else is dead. Sure they might dump 99% to almost nothing and you could make money catching pump and dumps but over long periods of time 3, 5, 10 years, you can only count on Bitcoin.

Hold Bitcoin dumbass. Just keep accumulating more and more and ignore the nose and temptation of other shitcoins. Then when the time comes in early and late 2021, you can gamble on small stacks of BTC which is essentially free money on shitcoins.

That BTC is pretty much guaranteed to survive and appreciate in value in the future but people think some shitcoin is the one that is going to get them rich. I mean it's not rocket science to hold 50-60% Bitcoin and the other shitcoins and you've a much better chance of coming out ahead than a 100% shticoin portfolio

You're deluded by memes and you haven't lived through a marketcycle

In the future you will likely be disappointed by the fact that your erc20 token doesn't do as well as the platform it's on, which in turn will not make as great of gains as quickly as the King
Everyone learns this, that's what this picture means

'smart contract platform' is not where money it's at. Look up any revenue-producing company's market cap (what boomers like buffet like to obsess about) and compare it to Gold's market cap, a useless (almost) shiny rock sitting in vaults doing fuck all.

That's why bitcoin is the only thing that matters, ethereum is a meme when especially as an investment. No one is gonna put money into a coin ruled by some autistic virgin who can change the supply cap/inflation or hardfork the entire bitch over night

BTC, ETH, and XMR are all that matter

Even the best altcoins are doomed to death not because they're bad ideas that aren't important, and not because they don't solve real problems, but because they are implementing functionality that is too specific

It's like when personal computers first came out, and instead of writing a spreadsheet processing program for those computers, someone went out and made a new type of computer meant for spreadsheet processing. It's not a good architectural design in terms of the computing ecosystem.

Similarly, nothing matters except for
>BTC as a monetarily-secure base layer currency
>ETH as a computationally-secure Turing Complete VM currency
>XMR as a privacy-secure short-term transaction intermediary currency

That being said, I can also imagine a future where both ETH and XMR are made obsolete by the same functionality being built on top of BTC, there's nothing fundamentally stopping it. But it may not happen and if not that's okay

Someone please refute this because it has been clear to me for years now and I've never seen any clear arguments against this line of reasoning
