Problem is that you are rsponsible out of pocket for any repairs or if something happens to go wrong, and that coupled with property tax can raise your "monthly" rate by the end of the year to be more than if you just paid rent somewhere equivalent. I'd love to own a house, but I don't think it makes much sens for me financially at the moment
