So the common answer when people ask "how can stocks be up when the economy is in the shitter" is: "the stock market is not the economy." This is true, the stock market can up or down wildly and really have no bearing whatsoever on what's happening in real life, peoples' jobs, wages, etc.

My question then is, IF the stock market is not the economy, why is the FED so monomaniacally committed to propping it up? Why add trillions to its balance sheets to manipulate interest rates to entice money into pumping stocks up? It's just a fucking casino for hedge fund managers and zoomers. Just let it implode, it doesn't fucking matter. Everyone's acting like the world will end if we let stocks correct 70%, but if stocks aren't the economy, then why would the world end?

Just find it infuriating how comparatively little support the gov is actually channeling into the real economy (unemployment, stimulus payments, business loans) while it prints trillions to make sure line goes up at any cost.
