Hey /biz/, what's a good financial safety net? I have about 15k in savings right now but I think this might be too much.

retard here: I have a rollover ira with a couple thousand dollars. I invested it in stocks this week. I am under the impression that I can't withdraw until I am 59.5 years of age unless I want to eat a 10% tax penalty.
Am I still able to trade stocks every month on it without paying capital tax, or will I have to pay the tax man every yeah even though the amounts that were put into the fund initially were rolled over from my 401k, and therefore tax deferred? I want to be able to play around and build up a decent egg here if I can.
