I only do #2 since I don't have much to trade with and don't want to take extreme risk, #1 is for medium sized traders (think $10k-$1m) who are looking for the next small mc pump. Beyond that sub $100m mc tokens aren't feasible.

You can do perfectly well with #2, you just have to be patient. I went 2x in a couple days from just AVI and EARNFI. If I went all in on EARNFI I could've made x5 in the span of 4 days. I don't think it's too late to get in on EARNFI but right now it's a bit riskier. Could still x10 within the next couple days, but it's entering the "needs outside-/biz/ adoption" phase. A lot safer than dodgy tg rugpulls. But, tg groups are always an option and people do put in say $100 and turn it into $10,000.

My method is to just browse through what anons have been posting, look at portfolios and see what everyone else is interested in. If it takes off with /biz/ holders it's likely to take off elsewhere as well. BASE tokens have a lot of money going in right now, and not a lot going out. AVI is going to 20-50x eventually with the release of SkyBridge (a BASE bridge for eth tokens) in the next 1-2 weeks so I'd get in on that now. Generally utility tokens don't pump until the latter stage of the bullrun, so I'd hold off on KNS for now although it will follow a similar trajectory eventually. The KNS and AVI developers have been collaborating which suggests KNS may move to BASE as well. On second thought... I might split my AVI bag into KNS.

Lastly, don't be afraid to gamble on low mc shitcoins shilled here... just don't put in a lot. I put in ~$50 into $RETARD on BASE personally because I think it's stupid enough to pump again.
