Isn't the whole point of virtual neural networks and the reason that they got breakthrough performance the fact they more closely imitate human cognition? Like, even if the basic level is linear algebra, don't large-scale systems acquire "emergent" or "complex" behavior or something like that if you make them really big?

well yes the idea here is how feasible is it for the open source community to push forward while large companies fall back. Are you saying that something like making an open ChatGPT clone is a matter of training data & processing time rather than the actual implementation? i.e., the one implementing it can just treat the "AI" part like a blackbox and shove 4chan threads or whatever into its digital maw to teach it to speak?
