Pic related is from a paper called "leverage for the long run." Basically you buy UPRO (3x SP 500) when the SP 500 is above the 200 MA. And sell when it crosses below. It averaged 26% returns (top row, far right in pic). Compared to 16% returns with a buy and hold strategy. You also never have to worry about liquidation. You could swap out UPRO for TQQQ if that's your preference. Tech performs well in bull markets and the returns could be higher. But as for a buy and hold strategy you're probably better off with QLD or SSO.
