Filecoin is at it heart a Proof-of-"Work" coin, but the work is actually something useful: Nodes "mine" by providing dezentralized storage. FileCoin combines a few inherently useful features:

> dezentralized storage

it is a infrastructure project for web3, much like a decentralised AWS. One of its main competitors is ICP.

Filecoin is built buy the same buy that build IPFS ( InterPlanetary File System, see pic attached) and libp2p (basically every ETH2.0 client uses this library lol)
