This is where your logic breaks down: it doesn't matter what Dave did in the past if the advice he's giving now is good, which it is for 95% of people. It's not hypocrisy. I don't think he ever claimed that HE became wealthy doing what he advises. In fact he's not even telling his audience that doing what he says will make them WEALTHY, it'll just make them NOT BROKE. Which would be a significant improvement for more than half the population living paycheck to paycheck with zero savings and maxed out credit cards.
