Silve has antimicrobial properties and sailors even put coins in barrels to prevent any bacteria from growing in the water. Colloidal silver is also a good preservative. I put it in my jello mix and it lasts longer in the fridge. The bacteria just hate the silver

That must have been a fun die to carve, i imagine carving that die twice would.be difficult. The way they make coins is nuts, the mint has tons of masters of masters made from a master die, they wear down and they wont run out for years. I may be mistaken but the term restrike might refer to old dies that were found and then used, someone correct me if i got that wrong.
