well if we're a cult we're a pretty decentralized, friendly and non-dogmatic cult, typically cults are characterized by a codified set of beliefs and centered around a charismatic leader so it seems like whoever made that post was just trying to besmirch /xsg/'s good name

saying Mellon and BabaCugs are leaders doesn't make much sense because their validity is an ongoing topic of heated debate, with many people holding that BabaCugs is nothing more than an outspoken LGBTQIA+ advocate who enjoys anilingus in his free time and probably suffers from chronic pinkeye as a result

the Memedates thing has been pushed really hard but there's a fairly decent subset of regular /xsg/ posters (myself included) who think that rather than being tied to specific calendar dates, the rise of XRP is tied to events, and so the focus on cartoon bears and giving hard-and-fast dates for price action is dumb. There's more of an emphasis on finding "breadcrumbs" or connections/developments (such as partnerships, shared personnel, and corporate/financial links with Ripple)

pic related is a good example of the content I think is most valuable in XSG- there are users who create mosaics of related news articles, pictures and quotes that point to Ripple's key role as a bridge asset/supranational reserve currency used for settlement in the coming digital economy
