Here's an example: the staking portion of the network could have been in any asset or even in USD via SWIFT API. But it's not, it’s in a decentralized erc677 token that literally anyone with half a brain could buy. Why does staking matter? Because in order for the network to function, one of the paths of malfeasance has to be blocked by the staking of collateral. That staking value must be at least equal to the value of assets being transferred in these contracts. And the first users of the network will be people with large value transactions and low trust environments. It is harder to make a network like this, and he added this additional degree of difficulty not because he's a sadist, but because he is intentionally throwing a bone to anyone willing to look deeply into the tech.


I know less than 1% of this board will take me up on this but here's one of my best investment vetting secrets: for anything you're thinking of putting more than 1% of your portfolio into, make a handwritten timeline of how the project came about, who joined when and look into any discrepancies. These little inconsistencies generally reveal one of two things: non-public information that is bullish or non-public information that is devastating to the project. If you're investing with that knowledge while the entire rest of the base is reading reddit, you will destroy the market long term. If you do just that for chainlink you'll find a bunch of stuff that nobody has yet posted on 4chan. If you don't want to, don't bother. Just sit on your hands and get rich in three years. Yea tbqhfam I've been worried about that. I hold 250k Link and if it even reached past 10 bucks I'd be set for life if I pulled it all out, invested properly, and lived frugally. Now I'm still relatively young and don't mind my wagecuck job so I fully plan to hold for the next 2-3 years, but I'll definitely take some profits before that (plan is to sell 20% in the 50-100 range, maybe a bit in the 10-20 range, hold the rest). What I'm worried about is let's say I want to pull out over a million, hell in a dream scenario even 10+ million, who do I talk to? Are modern day tax attorneys experienced with this? Do they have legit advice? Do I trust them to not screw me over?

Agreed on that last point. I've got a top 160-170 wallet and am just waiting. I don't mind the wait either because it allows fellow anons to buy more and I fully understand this is a token that's meant for big business and it has to be absolutely 100% perfect. I'm 28 next month and have a decent job I like. It'd be awesome if it mooned tomorrow but hey, if I have to wait 2,3, even 4 years but in the end it means i'll be a multimillionaire then that's fine. There could always be worse than retiring in your early 30's. Anyone that doesn't have that kind of patience doesn't deserve this.
