Probably has to do with hobbies/interests/careers/networks of men overlapping or aligning with crypto more frequently leading to a higher chance of becoming familiar or aware of the subject. If you look at the demographics for computer science graduates the past 30 years, I would imagine the data would show it being a primarily male dominated field. There are more female graduates recently, so I would imagine the gap is becoming smaller, but still remains very pronounced. Think about how you first found out about cryptocurrency. I would imagine it was because of some form of a "boys club" for most. I first learned about cryptocurrency when I was playing dota in high school from some older guys in college I used to play with. If it wasn't for them introducing the subject to me, and the frequent discussions over a period of time, I probably wouldn't even be aware of what it was, or trust it. I knew they were crazy smart and their access to information and sharing that information with each other on forums led to some pretty heated debates, but a better understanding for all of us. It just so happened like 99% of us who played dota were guys. There are women who know about crypto, and work in the scene, but I think they are severely outnumbered. My concern going into the future is that if crypto is the future of money, women as a whole are going to fall even further behind their male counterparts, and have less power because they did not have as many advantages that men have had. If men have more wealth, they also stand to acquire more cryptocurrency, and stand to profit significantly more than women if prices continue to rise. It seems likely to create a situation where men as a whole have even more power, and women have less power going into the future. Will it fix itself over time- who knows?
