How fucked are they?

Is using hardware wallet software on Windows less secure than using it on Linux?

For example, if I have a Ledger, does connecting it to a Windows PC make me more vulnerable than using it on a Linux PC?

At what point is it necessary to get a hardware wallet?

So I have crypto I don't feel good about on this piece of shit, and I would like to sell half.
But to do that I need to send it to Metamask first. But to do that I need ETH which I don't have, and gas prices are so fucking high.
So let's say I want to send 20$ worth of ETH to it, how much do I need to buy, as I need to also send the ETH from the purchase place to Ledger?

Does anybody here know if the Ledger Nano is any good? How are you able to store ERC-20 tokens in here?

What's best way to store crypto? Nano ledger? EtherWallet?
