Even assuming Chainlink was not chain agnostic and isn't aiming to become independent of ETH

For every oracle request, there is currently an amount to be paid in LINK and an amount to be paid in gas (ETH).

The value per request in LINK is much, much higher than that needed in gwei. Additionally, LINK can be used to execute smart contracts on Arbitrum, or Tezos, or other shittier blockchain VMs.

What this means is that once smart contracts are running on real world data (as all of Defi is currently doing for mere prices), the value of this network will be reflected in LINK much more so than in ETH, as the required gwei per execution will be proportionally much lower.

This means that LINK can have a much bigger marketcap than ETH.

the beauty of building something decentralized is that eventually it won't even matter who runs it anymore. The value is perpetual and self-sustaining.
