Don't count on the fed bailing things out. They might try, and it might work, but they might just let a few companies/banks fail as a warning to others.

In the 2008 crash you had Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, a government-backed mortgage underwriter. If any companies were expected to get a bailout, it was these two. But guess what, the fed let them fail, wiping out every single shareholder.
