A lot of people have strong opinions about the amount of electricity the Bitcoin network consumes.
And any conversation about electricity consumption necessarily includes conversation about environmental impact.

The conversation should be focused on the methods by which we produce electricity, not the things we use that electricity for.
Bitcoin is a scapegoat for people who want something to blame.
Making reductions in electricity consumption won't have any substantial effect on reducing the environmental impact of electricity production.

In my opinion, if the value of Bitcoin continues to increase, it will drive innovation in development of cheaper ways to make electricity.
