I grew up in an environment that was fundamentally hostile to expressions of masculinity. Most of my adult life has been about trying to make myself seem less threatening in order to navigate educational and workplace structures that are basically designed to be comfortable for women. This is extremely prevalent, at least on the west coast of US. I grew up surrounded by this type of guy - powerless simps raised by feminists. They are emasculated by the people around them and it becomes internalized into a vicious cycle of self-loathing and low-T. It's no wonder so many of them become trannies. Personally, I just ended up a very angry and depressed youth... but I can get where they're coming from.
