i know institution can basically short the stock even if they own shares (if they want out of the position but can't dump their shares), they can just transfer over their actual shares when they have to cover

i mean I'll trust Justin on his statement that big funds are short on GME, including the Melvin one, but maybe we're overestimating the actual short interest
