You can extract only the gold from E-scrap, but it takes some nasty acids and is dangerous and difficult for only sub-gram amounts of gold. When you see gold colored pins, that doesn't mean the whole pin is gold, just a few atom-layers on the outside edge for the sake of a corrosion free contact point.
