Basically you just treat them like gold or a foreign currency and pay capital gains. You buy from a bank account in your SMSF's name and the SMSF has legal title to the coins etc.

Anyone can set up a bunch of nodes & add a smart contract to hold the funds of users & distribute them. I'm expecting platforms like MakerDAO or Compound or Aave etc will probably add staking features too, on top of their existing offerings. Would make sense, you can still stake your Eth, but also use it as collateral for other things
