I trained for over a year for a special operations job in the military. I told everyone I was training for it, thought about it and worked towards it almost every day. It sorta defines who I was. Come time for the selection course and I made it to the last day of the week but ended up quitting. This was earlier this year and it kinda fucked me up. Just drank for weeks and sulked/was angry. Mainly at myself.

Now that I’m in a better spot and have properly grieved the situation (this happened earlier this year) I’ve fully learned countless lessons about leadership, my own flaws and strengths, things from other leaders I saw in course, and things from the instructors.

In the end it was my own fault for not making it. I didn’t take my diet seriously enough and showed up heavier than I should have, making every exercise/day hurt way more than it should have. In addition I neglected to train calisthenics as much as I should have. I tended to play Grayman and blend in rather than take charge and lead in hectic situations. I was the youngest in the class so didn’t quite have the leadership experience necessary. That amongst tons of other things are the reasons I didn’t make it.

Ready to move on and get after it on my next endeavor. No I’m not on the wrong sub, I have a good amount of crypto bought too. That’s just been my first real big failure where the results were emotionally, mentally and socially devastating. Brushing yourself off and getting back up ready to face the next endeavor is one of the best things that could have come from the failure. Ultimately grateful.
