Also one of the few secret teachings that got out from the Pythagoreans was that the Earth has a circular movement (this was long before Copernicus). I also think that his "music of the spheres" theory was widely misinterpreted. Everything was a form of harmony (and thus music, and thus numerical proportion) to the Pythagoreans.

It's a shame they were so secretive and much was lost when they were purged, but you can find some of their stuff in here. Sadly almost no direct writing.
