I would further theorize that many of these boomers are deeply psychologically damaged and still living in a world where the summer of love (or its conservative equivalent of unprecedented economic prosperity) never ended. Usually they run blue collar companies that they'd scarcely be qualified to work for - things like logistics, manufacturing, imports, or automotive maintenance. Some are farmers. Most have deluded themselves into believing they worked hard for their money. These people may be religious insofar as it allows them to be self-righteous but they are almost always fundamentally secular in their actual behaviors. They live in a state of perpetual fear that their prosperity won't last or that their achievements somehow won't be adequate - and they won't, because we're all living in a vaporwave dream and all the money in the world isn't enough to make the mall music sound less hollow or the McDonalds meal taste less cheap.
