If you are consciously taking safe decisions you are definitely smarter than the average /smg/ poster, don't be so hard on yourself.

For every poster you see in the threads bragging how much they made that day there are a couple owning up to their losses and a whole lot of silence :)

I would suggest only doing it for fun
Find some company or a few companies that you have never heard of.
You want companies with a decent amount of price movement, not super-correlated to the broad stock market, and a company that you've never heard of (so you don't have bias).

Alternatively, do something like the GALT/LCI index where you take completely disconnected tickers and put them together with whatever mathematical construct you want. This will give you some weird 'pure' chart that no one else is looking at (no one else has ever seen, even).

Then, just ahve fun with it. Draw lines and check back after a month and see if it followed any behavior that you previously predicted.
Do it with one new stock or multi-stock combo every day. Then after 30-120 days check the one that you did that period ago, so you have a rolling stable of wank predictions to check, and see what % of directional or level predictions come true
