heres ill explain it again for you

lets say im up 10,000$ profit and i have 50,000$ equity in a stock

if i knew that stock was about to crash on tuesday and i sold it all on monday

i now have to pay taxes on that 10,000$ even though i just wanted to put it right back in after the crash and i was just being a smart investor to try to preserve my money

but people who were willing to LOSE and keep all their money invested during a crash dont have to pay for their realized gains because they were stupid

they are rewarded they get to keep their stock and i have to reach into my stack and pay the tax man even though my intention was to stay invested in that stock
