I use this model with the UK data and get a good fitting with reasonable numbers.

Here we see the decrease in the rate of growing cases which shows the fit accounts for the plateau

The UK is must be having safe gay sex because these number are super low to start decreasing.
Europe tends to have a lower std transmission rate though.
