...Does anyone else plan to earn wealth but they don't actually know what to spend it on?

What do I buy? Trips around the world? Fancy cars? I don't know if I would be capable of hitting the "purchase" button even if I have millions

Anyone else grow up poor but become rich and not know how to enjoy it?

Hey /biz/. I'll be inheriting around $120k CAD in a month and a half and I was planning on spending some on travel, but I also want to invest. So my questions are this, what would I want to invest in, how much, and what is the likelyhood of me gaining anything from said method?

Thank you,

-Anon

tldr; recieving fairly large sum of money soon and wondering what to invest in

Voice of investment reason, "Already-have-lots-of-money...What-do-I-do-with-it?" edition #594

>Set aside:
>2 month short-term emergency fund covering a bit more than all of your monthly expenses expenses, in cash
>4-6 month medium-term emergency fund covering a bit more than all of your monthly expenses, bond index funds

>With your remaining net wealth:

>Contribute the maximum to your 401k every month, especially if your employer matches
>Allocate it to a low-fee target date fund for your appropriate retirement date. People talk shit but these are completely fine and autopilot

>Contribute the yearly maximum of $5,500 to your Roth IRA or normal IRA (figure out which is best for your income range and future plans, you can Google it anon)
>Allocate your_age% in stock index funds (75% US, 25% international)
>Allocate 100-your_age% in total bond market index funds

>401k and IRAs are tax free on gains
>Personal brokerage accounts are not

>Open a personal brokerage account for the rest, this is unfortunately taxed gains
>Invest the rest of your money in here, with the same allocation scheme as your IRA
>If you want, try to be more conservative in your personal brokerage account, and more risky and aggressive in your IRA
>This is because you want your risky big gains in the tax free account, and your safe lower gains in the taxed account, so you give less money to the tax man but have the same exact risk profile. Don't go too overboard with risk in the IRA though, still stay balanced

>Take 10% of your wealth and put it into cryptocurrencies
>Cryptocurrencies are the future and if you're not invested in them you're a cuck. This 10% has to be conservative though, no shitcoins. BTC only at this point

>Take 5% of your remaining funds as "fun money". If you're really comfortable do 10%. But be prepared to lose ALL and I mean -ALL- of this money. Have fun with novel investment methods with this money. Stick it all in shitcoins and JNUG if you want

Where do you store your ETH coins? I don't want to keep them on coinbase incase it gets hacked, but it seems like this Ethereum client program off ethereum.org is shit and stores your files in %appdata% and shit. I want a portable ethereum client, anyone fucking know a safe one so I can store all my ethereum related data in TrueCrypt?

>we are an equal opportunity employer, we don't discriminating on race, religion, gender, skin color, national origin, sexual orientation etc.

How come I'm paid a pittance while my American coworkers get all the dosh?

>we pay according to the market

sure but the market does discriminate. Further, if it underpays e.g poc or women (which it does btw) then it is magically okay to discriminate against them?

I'm all for discriminating against whoever you want, but you can't call yourself pc-sjw-equal-opportunity if you do that.

ITT: We discuss ways of generating a side income on your own(or potentially a way of making a full time living). I'm talking about things like investing, trading, poker etc.

>What it is
>How long you've been doing it
>How much money you've made/lost
>how much money you can make/lose an hour
>pros
>cons

I'll start:

>What it is

Poker

>How long you've been doing it

About a year and a half

>How much money you've made/lost

About 5k

>how much money you can make/lose an hour

If I'm in a good game I can make 20-30 an hour.

>pros

-Can be fun
-Capital requirements aren't too high. A couple hundred dollars is enough to get started and ~2k is plenty to play live 1/2 where you can make 10+ dollars an hour if it's a decent game.
-Very easy to get the basics. Learnings curve is not steep - you just gradually get better
-Makes you better at decision making, probability and game theory

>cons

-Takes a while to get to the stage where you're making a profit. You will probably lose a few hundred getting started.
-Online poker is illegal in the US (There's always live though)
-Hours can be a bit anti social if you're playing live poker, generally the games are best late at night/early in the am.

Hello /biz/,
I thought about getting into business related stuff but I dont know where to start.
I tried educating myself on some internet pages which had tutorial on them on how to start investing etc.
But it always feelt like there was a lack of my knowlege and I coudnt understand the guide for beginner.
I knew that the problem was not having enough background knowlege.
But where should I start then? Can you recommend some blogs/videos/books?
I tried lurking on /biz/ and thought that it would be enough unfortunately that was not the case
