Your kids will be pretty upset when you're forced to move again because the landlord wants to sell or move there themself (often just a tactic to force you to move out so they can later raise the rent on someone else more than they legally could on you). If you are planning to stay one place for a long time which is for the best for your kids it would be retarded to rent. Renting is only good if you move a lot or need to be flexible for work otherwise it makes no sense financially.
If you live in the same place long term then owning is substantially cheaper and nobody tells you what to do. If something is broken you just fix it without having to beg your "owner".

If you do get kids, for their sake, just settle down in a comfy house with a garden until they're older. Kids who move a lot get fucked up mentally.
