That is part of what I do yes, when people hire me to look for gold on their placer properties I usually end up getting side commissioned to optimize their setups. The shit people build on a budget to go mining is nuts, and some of the crap they buy thinking it will make them rich is even more insane. One crew I worked with last year bought these giant 9ftx9ft plastic spiral concentrator setups from a Chinese supplier. They had no idea actually how they worked or what they were used for and ended up spending another $60 thousand on the rest of the gear to run them. They did get gold but never enough to break even.
