>Man, how do you guys do it?
adderal and weed daily, LSD when i need to rethink my long holdings (or once quarterly as i review my entire portfolio top to bottom)
>There's so much to take into consideration and by the time I feel like I understand something, everything changes and my portfolio value never really changes before closing. What kind of mindset do you need to really start making a killing?
calm, patient, and precise
>How do you know when to hold or when to buy/sell?
when you have made money, and feel like the stock has no more upside to go
>I get the market can be volatile and hard to predict, but it can also be so subtle that by the time you realize there's a profit to turn or so, the opportunity has already passed you by. It's hard to concentrate when there's so much to take into consideration. What can a guy like me do to make a play and stick with it without fear or repercussions?
take your time, do it slow, and start small
pay close attention to just a couple stocks, try writing down what you think will happen to them in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year
do this again the next day, and keep on doing it

youll be able to see where you went wrong, and where you went right

also the easiest way to win is just buy a good stock, then forget that you have it for a few decades, because it is impossible to time the market unless you have a magical crystal ball (and if you do have a crystal ball, just cheat and win the lottery, its so much easier)

>I'll have to study until I'm ready to start investing
go out and buy one share of F on monday, its never too late to start, even if its smalltime

you dont know how you will react to daily price movements until its really your money on the line

and then youll want to acclimate as you do more, watching $10 move up and down during the day feels a lot different than watching $1,000 move up and down, or $1,000,000 moving up and down by $100+ a minute

also ideally you want to learn something new every day, so never stop reading

in reality you can stop whenever, the only one who can decide otherwise is you
read until you are comfortable, theres no education requirement to invest, its your money

it introduces things way better than most math books ive read, but yea, some of its conclusions are trivial if youve taken some college level math (And liked it, or at least retained the info after you finished the course)

>>13955211
idk, i never read that one
I've never focused on casino gambling much, since the house has an inherit edge (if they didnt, they wouldnt be able to be in business in the first place)
plus I'm a sucker for gamblers fallacy once ive had a few drinks in me (especially if there is plenty of visible cleavage in my personal space)

the best amount to invest for the first time is enough that you wont mind if you lose it all

if thats your rent money you are investing, you are going to feel pressured to make terrible decisions, regardless of how much or little that money is

i chose ETH more because it can smart contracts, and ETH seems more resistant to ASIC mining than BTC and its various offspring are, so GPU can theoretically be profitable longer

also ETH's dag just surpassed the 3 GB size, with 4GB expected by mid 2020 so most GPU's that were 4GB or smaller are about to be shit at mining it (I have two 8gb GPU's so they are future proofed for a few years at least, ETH's dag wont be above 8GB until 2027 or so by current estimates)

depends on what you lack knowledge of
>been stuck and scared to get into stocks without any proper preparaton.
just buy one cheap stock to see how it feels to watch the price go up and down in a day

you can read every book in the world but you wont know what holding feels like until you actually get your feet wet

its ok, the pain of losing your own money once is worth 100000x simulations and "expert advice" from others

without pain, you cannot learn

losing $1,000,000,000 in simulations is nothing compared to losing $10 of your own real money in real time

get your feet wet

buy one tiny stock (any /biz/ shilled meme will work), and buy one stable stock (WM)

see how you react after holding them a while
see how you react when youre selling them often

youll can only learn so much without feeling the pleasure and pain of losing or gaining real money

also learn math, and always be learning about new terms and strategies
and you might have picked literally the best time to buy into the market, so dont hesitate
