TL;DR there is no sort of backdoor in the fucking code that will steal your funds. Given that it's a hot wallet there are still vulnerabilities but nothing more than any other hot wallet. If you have something like 500k there is zero fucking reason to put it on a hot wallet in the first place. You buy a Ledger hardware device (or ideally several of them) for that level of funds, or simply store them on a paper wallet.

OP: your move here depends on your ability to pay. That said, collectors typically buy your debt for pennies on the dollar so they are willing to negotiate with you on how much you owe. Even if you wind up paying them 10% of the original balance they will still make a profit.

Now that being said, they are not pushovers so negotiations will take some doing on your part. You will have to complain and complain like a whiny bitch to multiple people on their end, but if you hold steady you can get them to agree to some small fraction of your original balance and a payment plan to get it to them.

If you are successful in this, it will still take years to fix your credit but probably not as long as a bankruptcy would (I'm not a lawyer or financial advisor so YMMV on that estimate). In the future, don't act like nigger with your money. Credit can be a useful tool but it is also a privilege reserved only for the responsible, as you are finding out the hard way.

I am sure most people feel the same way about btc or eth. I never got into crypto as I spent most my time seething over stupid politics and drowning myself and alcohol. Only heard about btc here and there from headlines but didn't really care to look into it. Finally lost everything and randomly stumbled on /biz/. I hope this crypto market can help me get out of debt, and fix my shitty credit. So far it motivated me to stop drinking and start using that money for investing and savings. For the first time in forever I am a little more optimistic.
