Sup /biz/, I've got a question about getting the most out of my college degree.
Right now I'm a junior ChemE with two options for my last summer before heading out into the job market
Despite being a ChemE, my previous intership experience has veered much more heavily toward environmental engineering
I have the option to continue with this route, and get GIS training for monitoring my campus' water systems. I also get to keep staying in my apartment, and make 15 bucks an hour, which is bretty good.
On the other hand, I can take an unpaid internship where I'll be a lackey who punches in data from some reactor design lab, which sounds like absolute shit.
Is doing something not particularly related to my major a selling point, as I'll gain a pretty important skill set (GIS), or is it going to make me undesirable for straying too far from my field?
TLDR; good job that's unrelated to my major or shitty unpaid intership that's related but gives me no useful experience?
