If we're talking the SP500, its up 20% YTD. If we ignore the dip that happened Dec 2018 then its almost perfectly aligned with the end of 2018 minus that dip, so steady rather than dipping.

Historically the SP500 moves between +40 to -40% with an average of 14% per year. So you're not in a dip.
