This is insanity for a currency platform and as chain analysis continues to improve it will look even more retarded sooner than later.

There is also the ongoing issue of KYC regulation and exchanges holding coins that are tainted.

Downloading the blockchain is obviously the safer option, but for a new user looking to get into crypto it can be confusing. Ironically, your example of chinese coin farms is another reason why monero is superior due to its asic resistance and hard forking every 6 months to continue that.
