You're missing the full picture. They didn't pick a random alt, they picked their perfect alt, however things did not turn out as they should have, usually people would abandon said alt and move on to something else, the fact that they did not leave should tell you something.
The reality is that they would like for their alt to do well but will not lie to themselves about the state of it and will therefore shitpost and shit talk the things they don't like. They know things will turn out the way it should otherwise they'd leave.
