Anyone else have a soft spot for common shillings? I know they don’t even have a high silver content after 1920, but there’s something very comfy about owning the money of the people over so many decades. When you hold one, you can just imagine all the hands it must have passed through, some humble office worker buying The Times at the shop before getting on the Waterloo Line, or a housewife using it to buy eggs and sausages.
