I was a tenant before I tried my hand at landlording. The worst a landlord ever did was take a little too long to fix a non essential thing, but it happened. I pay my rent and go on with life.

Tenants, on the other hand, 3/4 of the ones I had were utter scum. One group that I had been very nice to, didn't ask for two month's deposit despite having very bad credit, didn't raise a fuss about them sneaking a pet in, fixed everything immediately and event spent money to have an electrician "fix" a tripped circuit they could have gone down and flipped themselves, just straight up refused to pay rent the last 3 months of their lease and cost me $3k+. The other two straight up trashed the place and broke shit everywhere.

I tried to do it fairly and ethically and instead was greeted with the worst humanity had to offer. I have to imagine most decent people get pushed out of this business and replaced with the asshole tyrants that scumbag rentoids deserve. With the ultimate conclusion being state-run projects full of crime, degeneracy, trashiness and poorly managed infrastructure.
